Design Like You Give a Damn: LIVE!

You have world changing ideas. Learn how to build them.

Thanks to everyone who helped make the event special.

A special thank you to everyone who attended and sponsored Design Like You Give a Damn: LIVE! from October 15-16, 2010 at the Center for Architecture in New York City. The two-day forum on humanitarian design and community development was a huge success and we are so happy that more than 400 people were able to participate.

The opening event and cocktail reception on Friday drew a few hundred guests who packed into the Center for Architecture to view presentations from the 2010 Curry Stone Design Prize Finalists.

On Saturday, we hosted panels on innovative financing of humanitarian design, successful monitoring and evaluation practices, and post-disaster rebuilding. In working group sessions that followed the panels, guests sat down one-on-one with the expert panelists, had their questions answered and learned how to apply best practices to their own work.

We also hosted a Design Open Mic, which was an opportunity for humanitarian designers to share their work with the public through informal presentation and conversation throughout the day. Stay tuned as we will soon post the presentations through our Open Architecture Network.

Our first ever chapters-wide meeting brought in representatives from as far away as Beijing, Auckland and Santiago. Those who couldn’t attend in person participated via a live feed.
